Mark was born on Catalina Island on August 16, 1947. His parents owned and operated a restaurant and resided there during his early childhood. After selling the restaurant his family moved to Pasadena, California where the family continued in the restaurant business.
Mark attended High School and College in the Pasadena area where he met his future wife. He entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and upon completion of his tour, he married his high school sweetheart, Marianne.
In 1968 he was blessed with his first child, a daughter Trish. Three years later, Kristen was born. Those girls were the skip in his step. Oh but how those 3 women kept him on his toes. Fortunately he had two son-in-laws that came along and balanced out the team, “T” and Larry.
Mark entered the work force and started in the sales field. He was such a hard working man and sometimes worked three jobs to provide for his family. Somehow, Mark always found time to take his girls and all their friends to the beach or Palm Springs. Mark had a strong love for martial arts which earned him a black belt in his earlier years.
In 1991,Taryn (“Bear”) his first grandaughter was born. Next followed his second granddaughterTatumn (“Taterbug”) His third was his one & only grandson Clint Douglas (just like grandpa’s middle name) aka C-dawg. Last but not least, his Sydney girl, aka “Nini”. They were the pride and joys of his life.
Mark worked for the Department of Transportation in Oceanside and was forced to retire early due to his illness. Recently, Mark & Marianne celebrated their 42 years of wedded bliss.
On October 9, 2010, Mark passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He always had a special way of touching peoples lives and making friends wherever he went. We will all miss him dearly but know in our hearts he no longer suffers. He will remain in our hearts forever. He was a one in a million Husband, Daddy, G-Pa & Man who definitely left his “MARK”.
Crematory, Oceanside, California.
