Mildred Elizabeth George Hill was born on October 22, 1923 in East lake Colorado. Daughter of Henry and Annie George, who lived on a 160 acre farm, north of Denver. She was the youngest of five girls and one younger brother. The oldest sister Gertrude was born in the hospital, and all the other children were born at home. Her early education was in East lake, Colorado, where the bus stop was known as the "George Girls" stop. She attended many schools, finishing at Boulder High School 1941, where she was a majorette. After a short time at the University of Colorado, and working at Boulder High School she moved to California with her friend Deane Hill (Zimmerman), in 1945. She got a great job at Forest Lawn as a personal secretary to the manager in the mortgage loan department. Uncle Lloyd was living in California and was very kind to Milly during these years. Deane married in 1946, and Milly met her future husband, Marv, at this event. She then returned to Colorado to care for her father who was ill. Milly married Marv in Colorado, May 15, 1947. Their first son, Danny was born in 1948, and their second son, Rodney was born 1950, in Boulder, Colorado. Milly and Marv, as they were known to all, moved to San Diego, California in 1953 raising their sons and living their remaining beautiful years together. Milly was a lady who loved so many things including her family members and family life. She enjoyed playing the piano, she learned to play bridge, loved to bake and cook, she loved to travel, making numerous trips to Hawaii, Wales, Switzerland, Germany, England, New Zealand and Canada. She especially enjoyed the Colorado Mountains and trips to Central City, Grand lake, and Estes park.
She belonged to several bridge groups with many lady friends and couples groups with Marv. She was a great friend of her neighbors and had birthday outings with some of them. She loved pictures of where she had traveled, things she saw. Milly was a great and caring mother, was a PTA Honorary life member, and a Cub Scout mother, and she never missed a sporting event her boys were involved in.
Milly and Marv were married for 63 years, of love and happiness, laughs and some tears, but always devoted to each other.
Milly passed away on December 14, 2010 in Oceanside, California. She is survived by her loving husband, Marv and their two sons Danny (Pam) Hill, and Rodney ( Linda) Hill, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, relatives, and many friends. Her kind, gentle spirit and generous heart will be dearly missed by all that were lucky enough to ever have know her.
We Love You.
