Raymond Tasele Scanlan, 83, of San Marcos, CA, afflicted with advanced Alzheimer’s went to be with the Lord December 8th, 2017, surrounded with praise and worship by his loving family. Born December 10, 1933 to parents Charles and Lilieni (Thompson) of Fagotogo, PagoPago, American Samoa. They had a large family, Raymond was 1 of 11 siblings. As a young man, he joined the Marine Corps, spent 22 years proudly serving his country. Early in his career stationed at 29 Palms, CA, he met and married his beautiful wife of 56 years, Vao (Siliga). They had 4 children, traveled all over the country and settled in San Marcos, CA. Raymond retired as USMC MSGT in 1980 and continued to enjoy life with golf games, family times, and casino outings. Raymond is preceded in death by his only son, Ralph R. Scanlan, and survived by his loving Wife Vao, oldest Daughter Cindy, Daughters and Son in Laws Becca and Billy Manuwai, Lilivao and Tino Tautolo, Daughter in Law Deirdre Scanlan, Grandsons Tasele Scanlan, Makai, Mauka and Makani Manuwai. Funeral service will be December 18, 2017, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, San Marcos 9 AM Viewing, 10 AM Mass, followed by his Burial at Eternal Hills, Oceanside.
