Ronald J. “Ringo” Langley passed away peacefully in Oceanside, CA on September 30, 2025 at the age of 91. Ron will always be remembered for his love of life, family and a good laugh. Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Beryl, and he is survived by their four children -- Lynn (Rick) Burkhardt, Kim Garrett, Tracy (Jeff) Langley and David (Julie) Langley -- and their 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Ron is also survived by his wife, Jessie, and her three children -- Heidi (Ron) Cervi, Cindy (Joe) Casalaspro and David (Gina) Baker -- and her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. For many, many family members, Ron was simply “Granddad”.
Ron was born in London (Chelsea) in 1934 and immigrated to the US through Canada in 1962; according to his own account, he was searching for sunshine and warm weather and a place to bring up his family. The family originally settled in Pacifica, CA and when Ron realized the weather there was too similar to dreary England, he moved the family to Santa Clara in 1965. He had already begun his 36-year career at United Airlines where he quickly made lifelong friends with many of his colleagues. It was at United where Ron earned the nickname “Ringo” which stuck with him his entire adult life.
You always knew when Ron was near; his outgoing attitude and laughter simply lit up the room. He could always be relied upon when someone was in need and beneath his sometimes-stubborn exterior was a kind, loving and inclusive man who shared his love of life with everyone. He reveled in the company of his family, frequently gathering around the dining room table for hours of card playing, story telling, laughter, and song. Music was always at the heart of these moments - bands like The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tina Turner, and Joe Walsh were regular favorites - and singing, dancing, and listening together brought him and those he loved great joy! Later in life, Ron treasured his time with Jessie and thoroughly enjoyed sharing a pint (or two) at the pub with his softball team friends.
Ron’s presence will be missed by many, many people who called him a friend and a relative. We were all fortunate to have him for so long and we know that there will never be another person quite like him!
