Verneal met her one true love, Kendell Risner, in 1957 in Bakersfield, California and became Rosetta Verneal Risner just 5 months later. Kenny preceded her in death after over 50 years of marriage. Beloved granddaughter Laura Reeves also preceded her in death. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren Ryan Callahan, Lance Callahan, Jeramy Balentine, Delaney Campbell, Dana Reeves, Haylee Fox, Drew Risner-Davis, Nicholas Risner-Davis, Kendell Farkas and Alan Farkas and 12 great-grandchildren Kennedy Callahan, Brenden Callahan, Kai Schmid, Nathan King, Spencer King, Lilly Balentine, Remi Fox, Connor Callahan, Logan Callahan, Paige Farkas, Miles Farkas and Jaxson Christy.
Verneal was a wonderful person who always had a generous heart and kind spirit. Growing up during the Depression, she took pride in simple things and appreciated all that she had. She was a wonderful homemaker and her home was always immaculate. We used to tease her that we could eat off of our kitchen floors. She was a tireless worker, but never complained. She was a wonderful cook and baker and she enjoyed having family over for visits and celebrations. Our home was a favorite gathering place for both sides of the family and she was a favorite Aunt to many of our cousins. Before she passed, I reminded her that she was truly good at everything she did, except driving. I’m sure she was a good baby, sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. The people in her life were important to her and she took pride in the close relationships she made. She enjoyed traveling with Dad and they got to see a lot of our country together. She also enjoyed playing Bunco with friends and gambling from time to time. She was a very independent woman and was always confident that she would be able to take care of herself, and she did. She shared with me that truly felt she had a good life and she was proud of the life she lived. We are so grateful that we had her for so long, but we will miss her tremendously. We will carry you in our hearts forever.
