

Funeral services for Arthur J. Parmeter Sr., age 79 of Lisbon will be held on Thursday (January 30, 2025) at 2:00pm with Rev. Robert Schirmer officiating. Burial will be in the spring at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 11:00am until the time of the service at 2:00pm. Mr. Parmeter passed away on Monday (January 27, 2025) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Surviving are his wife Elizabeth of Lisbon; two sons Arthur Parmeter Jr. of Canton and Steven Parmeter & his companion Tina Kelly of Ogdensburg; two Daughters Tammie (Robert) Ethridge of Ogdensburg and Tina (Douglas) James of Lisbon; grandchildren Patrick, Mackayla & Shawna Parmeter, Chelsea Walny (Clint), Cody James, Brandon, Skylar & Curtis Parmeter; several great-grandchildren; brothers Elmer (Eleanor) Parmeter of Ogdensburg, Stewart (Blondie) Parmeter of Hammond, Raymond Parmeter of Ogdensburg, Ronald Parmeter of Lisbon, Bruce (Tonya) Parmeter of Lisbon, Richard Parmeter of Ogdensburg, John Parmeter of Ogdensburg and James (Laura) Parmeter of Madrid; five sisters Catherine Marcellus of Tupper Lake, Rosemary Parmeter of Brier Hill, Donna Parmeter of Morristown, Bonnie Brock of Lisbon and Beatrice (Hollis) Mason of Lisbon; along with numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; seven brothers Wilford, Lloyd, Marvin, William, Walter, Donald and Willie and two sisters Barbara Measheaw and Linda Hicks.
Arthur was born on October 26, 1945 in Lisbon, NY, a son of Howard & Edna (Middlemiss) Parmeter. He attended Waddington School for his education and was later married to Elizabeth Measheaw on July 1, 1966. He worked for the Lisbon Highway Department for 35 years before retiring. Arthur also worked on many farms during and after his retirement.
Arthur enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, Thursday night Morristown bingo, cutting wood, and boiling cedar oil. Also enjoyed picking up his breakfast at Tim Hortons then going to the park to watch ships go along the river, eating at Leah’s Diner, Madrid Café and Philip’s Diner with friends. Attending Lisbon Central School basketball events, watching St. Lawrence Hockey, going for rides and bird watching. He was a member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department, St. Lawrence Dart Baseball League, and various Men’s Softball Leagues.
