Calling hours for Bonnie L. Knight, age 73 of Colton and formerly of Lisbon will be held on Thursday (December 18, 2014) from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Pastors Patrick Severson and Steven Rockhill will officiate the funeral immediately following calling hours. Burial will follow the service at Flackville Cemetery in Lisbon.
Bonnie was devoted to Eddie and their three sons, Stephen (Lianne), Bradley (Melanie) and Brent (Deborah). She opened her heart to her daughters-in-law and embraced her grandchildren (Hannah, Brooke, Daniel, Sierra, Tess, Maia, Sadie Rose, Ethan, and Aiden Knight) with eager arms and boundless love. Bonnie’s ability to soothe a crying baby was unmatched.
Bonnie was born on October 5, 1941, the only child of the late Cecil and Viola Fowler. Raised, and educated in Gouverneur, NY, she attended beauty school in Rochester, NY after high school.
Bonnie came to work as a hair stylist for Julia and Bill Ellis in Ogdensburg, NY. It was there that a co-worker and friend, Phyllis Wood, introduced Bonnie to Edward Knight of Lisbon, NY. Within four months, the young couple was wed (December 10, 1960) and they enjoyed a marriage that spanned 54 years. Bonnie and Eddie celebrated their wedding anniversary just days ago.
Over the years, Bonnie’s activities and interests evolved into entertaining extended family and friends on Higley Flow, horse-back riding, quilting, square dancing with Eddie, regular attendance at her grandchildren’s various events, and travel throughout the United States. Bonnie’s green thumb, cooking, and, most especially, her pie-baking skills were renowned.
Bonnie devoted herself to her church (the Grace Presbyterian in Lisbon, NY), church family, friends, community members, extended family, her immediate family and, especially, to her dear Edward. She will be sorely missed.
