Funeral services for Clifford A. Butterfield, age 72 of the Knowlton Farm Road in Macomb will be held on Friday (Dec 11, 2015) at 1:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Calling hours will be held also on Friday from 11:00am until the time of the service. Mr. Butterfield passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington surrounded by his family.
Surviving is his beloved companion Bonnie Shine of Macomb; former wife Jacqueline Butterfield; a son Clifford Butterfield of California; three daughters Amy Mann of Carthage, Amber Wilcox of Brier Hill and Jennifer DuPree of South Carolina; step sons Anthony Shine & his wife Collette of NYC, Shannon Shine & his wife Ellen of Clifton Park NY; a step-daughter Colleen Shine of Arlington VA; siblings Harry Butterfield, Vernon Butterfield, Ross Butterfield, Tony Butterfield, Pamela Butterfield, Hazel Wing, Verna Barley, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews & cousins.
His parents Arthur F. and Grace E. (Finley) Butterfield; a brother John Butterfield and two sisters Iva Meashaw and Martha LaPar predeceased him.
Clifford was born on September 25, 1943 in Canton NY and attended Morristown Central School and Jefferson Community College. A prior marriage to Jacqueline (Perry) Butterfield ended, and he later found love and companionship with Bonnie Shine, his beloved partner for the past 25 years.
During his career he owned and operated a farm in Brier Hill until 1987, and later became employed with Max Beggs Construction where he worked until his retirement in the early 90’s. He was also a co-owner of a saw mill with Phil Law, and was a skilled welder, volunteer fireman, fisherman, gardener and his proudest accomplishment was being a father and grandfather.
Clifford lived his life to the fullest never to complain or let things stop him from living his life the way he wanted. He was a man who gave all of himself to family and friends by lending a hand, and never expecting anything in return. He was a great example to all on how to experience life and live it to the fullest. He will be greatly missed.
