Funeral Services for Donald F. Cota Jr. age 60 of Morris Street in Ogdensburg will be held on Friday (April 20, 2018) at 1:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Welsh officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Edwards Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held also on Friday from 11:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Cota passed away on Friday (April 13, 2018) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving is his wife Alma; two sons Donald “Donnie” (Dawn) Cota of Oklahoma, Jeremy (Karen) Cota of Massena and Julianne Cota and her special friend Larry MacDonald of Ogdensburg; a brother Tom Hutchins and his companion Patty of Massena; a sister Deborah Shaver and her companion Mark of Cornwall, Ontario; grandchildren Lillian, Madisyn, Briana and Tiana Cota, Isaiah Savage and Wyatt Cota; step-grandchildren Jonathan Howe, Paige Howe, Selina Mercado, Jacob and Harley Lazore; step-great-grandchildren Ian Howe, Aubrey Mercado and Braelynn Lazore.
Don was born on November 3, 1957 in Potsdam NY, a son of the late Donald F. & Lillian (Hebert) Cota. He attended Louisville and Batavia schools for his education, and later married Alma Baird on February 7, 1976 in Waddington.
He was employed over the years doing lawn care, general maintenance, vehicle detailing and at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in the housekeeping/maintenance departments until 1980 when he became disabled.
Donald was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Ogdensburg and a former member of the St. Lawrence Valley Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, lawn work and being around his family.
