

Funeral services for George E. Turner, age 72 formerly of Brasher Falls will be held on Monday (Nov 30, 2015) at 1:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Flackville Cemetery in Lisbon.
Mr. Turner passed away on Thursday morning (Nov 19, 2015) at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.
Surviving are two sons Timothy Turner & his wife Jamie of Brasher Falls, Sean Turner of Massena; a daughter Shiela Turner of Brasher Falls; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven nieces & nephews and two cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert & Arvilla Turner and four brothers Richard, David, Arthur & Lawrence Turner.
George was born on January 21, 1943 in Schenectady NY, a son of the late Robert & Arville “Jean” (Porter) Turner. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1961 and entered the US Navy where he served as a communications security device technician for 20 years. He received his honorable discharge on August 31, 1981. A prior marriage to Louise (Fuselier) Turner ended in divorce.
After he retired from the US Navy, he became employed at Collins Bros in Canton as a vending machine repairman until 2005 when he again retired. He was a former deacon of the First Baptist Church in Ogdensburg and enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, traveling, yard crafts, socializing with friends at the Hometown Diner and visits with his niece Beth.
