

A Funeral Mass for John H. Reed, age 86, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Entombment will follow at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Reed passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Home, surrounded by the love of his family.
John is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Donna; his two sons, John (Sue) Reed of Hermon and Joseph (Lucy) Reed of Ogdensburg; his two step-sons, Haskell Sobon (Nancy Fishbeck) of Ogdensburg, Tim (Lorna) Towsley of Prescott Ontario; step-daughter Debbie (Mike) Durham of Ogdensburg; his cherished grandchildren, Misty Griffith, Jhenna Reed (Matt Caufield), John (Kristen) Reed, Brooke (Andrew) Swain, Michael (Kelea) Reed, and Logan Reed (Jake Garnez), Melanie (Scott) Williams, Ben (Alexa) Sobon; great-grandchildren Connor & Camden Griffith, Hailey Reed, William & Amya LaFlair, Aliya & Chloe Best, Joplin & Avery Reed; great-great-grandson Jacob Garnez. He is also survived by his sisters, Barb (Pierre) Brisson and Elaine Putman, both of Ogdensburg, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Sheila Hiers, and his brother-in-law, Chuck Putman.
Born on February 16, 1940, in Ogdensburg, John was the son of the late John “Jack” and Rose (Greenier) Reed. He was a proud graduate of Heuvelton Central School and furthered his education at Canton ATC, earning his associate degree. Over the years, John experienced life’s journeys alongside former wives Joanne Madlin and Mary Sobin. In 2010, he married his soulmate, Donna Kinch, with whom he shared many happy years with.
John dedicated 46 years of his life to Kinney Drugs in Ogdensburg, where he served as a manager and became a familiar and friendly face to generations of customers. Known for his warm personality and genuine kindness, he took great pride in helping others and building lasting relationships within the community.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, the Boys & Girls Club, Notre Dame Parish, and the Maple City Softball League. John had a lifelong love of baseball, both playing and watching, and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
In keeping with John’s generous spirit, memorial contributions may be made to the Ogdensburg Boys & Girls Club or St. Joseph’s Home.
