Lester R. Martin

Funeral services for Lester R. Martin, age 85 of Rt 37 Lisbon, will be held on Thursday (Oct 15, 2015) at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (Oct 14, 2015) from 12:00-2:00pm & 4:00-6:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Martin passed away at his home on Monday (Oct 12) surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Donna; a son Myron Martin & his companion Shirley Nassoiy of Oswego, adopted son Todd Miller & his wife Kelly of Ogdenburg; two brothers William & Shirley Martin of Lisbon and Robert Martin of Ogdensburg; sisters Mary Middlemiss & her companion Leonard of Lisbon, Elsie DeRouchie & her husband Stephen of Rensselaer Falls; grandchildren Michael, Matt, Paul & Denny Martin; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

His son Paul Martin; two sisters Orpha Middlemiss & Lorna (Earl) Boots; a sister-in-law Theresa Martin and a brother-in-law Pat Middlemiss predeceased him.

Lester was born August 25, 1930 in Lisbon NY, a son of the late Royal & Ruby (Baker) Martin. He attended Lisbon Rural Schools for his education and later married Donna J. Putney on September 1, 1953.

During his career he was employed at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as an alcohol & substance abuse counselor for 35+ years. He retired in 1991. He also owned and operated his own beef cattle farm for many years until 2014.

Lester was a 54 year member of the Waddington Grand Lodge & Accepted Mason’s Lodge # 393, a past member of the Lisbon Planning Board and a member of Shriners.
