M. Nancy Thomas

Funeral services for M. Nancy Thomas, age 86 of Ogdensburg will be held 11:00am on Thursday (July 28, 2016) at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Canton.

Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 9:00 – 10:30am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Thomas went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (July 23, 2016) at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.

Surviving is a sister-in-law Ruth Dowd of Roanoke VA; a niece Kelly Cravatta & her husband Thomas of Winchendon, MA; a nephew Michael Dowd of Buffalo; 7 great-nieces & nephews James Dowd, Ryan Dowd, Tony Cravatta, Isaac Cravatta, Beth Cravatta, Maria Cravatta, Mikel Cravatta and 4 great-nieces and a nephew Evelina, Natalia, Alex & Petra.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Donald and a brother Francis “Jim” Dowd.

She was born on Sept 1, 1929 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Frank P. & Mary F. (Putney) Dowd. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1948 and continued her education at the Wallace Secretarial School. She later married Donald F. Thomas on Sept 22, 1973 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Nancy worked as a telephone operator for the NY Telephone Co for 25yrs, and retired in 1976. Soon after she returned to work at Farrand’s Flowers until 1979. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish, Telephone Pioneers and the K of C Ladies Auxiliary. Nancy enjoyed shopping, boating, her dogs, eating out and her time with her family.
