Mildred M. Stone

Funeral services for Mildred M. Stone, age 89 of the Mitchell Road in Heuvelton will be held on Monday (Feb 13, 2017) at 3:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Lay Speaker Margaret Hance officiating. Burial will be in the spring at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.

Calling hours will be held also on Monday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Stone passed away early Wednesday morning at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility.

Surviving are her children Daniel Stone & his companion Janice Sayer of Lisbon, Phillip Stone & his companion Sue Brooks of Ogdensburg, Ethel Burkhardt of Tennessee and Joann (Bill) Nagy of St. Cloud FL; a brother Rev. William Masters of DePeyster; daughter-in-law Colleen Stone of Canton; 24 grandchildren; several great & great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Mildred was predeceased by two sons Donald & John Stone; a son-in-law Stephen Burkhardt; a sister Ethel LaPash; seven brothers Everett, Kenneth, Edwin, Stanley, Robert, Calvin & Clark Masters.

She was born on January 9, 1928 in Gouverneur NY, a daughter of the late John & Belle (Goings) Masters. She graduated from Heuvelton Central and later married George Stone in Sept of 1948. Although the couple later separated they remained friends through the years.

Mildred worked as a waitress prior to her marriage, and later became employed as a therapy aid at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg until she retired. She enjoyed traveling, baking, crafts and taking care of babies.
