Ronald D. Winters

Funeral services for Ronald D. Winters, age 79 of the Tuck Road, Ogdensburg will be held on Monday (August 31, 2015) at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Winters passed away on Thursday (Aug 27th) at Riverledge Healthcare Facility surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Ann; son Kevin (Patty) Winters of Lisbon; daughter Shelley (Clede) Spooner of Canton; brothers Fay (Nellie) Winters of Lisbon; Gary Winters of Bradenton, FL and Paul (Dorothy) Winters of Ogdensburg; sister Sandy Burnette of Gerrardstown, WV; six grandchildren Clede (Sarah) Spooner of Livonia NY, Bridget Spooner of Mt Joy PA, Kristen (Billy) Welcome of Buffalo Grove IL, Marianne (Ryan) Claxton of Lisbon NY, Ashlee (Matt) Crosby of Lisbon NY, Danielle (Ryan) Beshaw of Ogdensburg; 6 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews & cousins. A sister Betty VanKouwenburg predeceased him.

Ron was born on July 31, 1936 in Lisbon NY, a son of the late Lowell & Mary (Newcombe) Winters. He attended Lisbon Schools for his education, and later married Ann LaRue on August 6, 1955 at St. Philip & James Catholic Church.

During his career he owned and operated Winters Milk Haulers for 45 years and worked as a bus driver for First Student & Laidlaw for 20 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, hunting, spending time at his hunting camp, camping at Lisbon Beach in his motor home and spending time with his family.
