Wilma F. Lewis, age 74 of Ogdensburg passed away Tuesday (September 2, 2015) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center with her family at her side. Calling hours will be on Tuesday (September 8, 2015) from 2- 4pm and 6-8pm at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home. Funeral will be 11:00am on Wednesday (September 9, 2015) with Rev. James Shurtleff officiating.
Mrs. Lewis was born on June 17, 1941 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Harold & Lois (Wallace) Kench. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg and later married James M. Lewis on November 11, 1961 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She is a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Wilma went to work at J.J. Newberry’s and then for the remainder of her career she worked as a bus monitor for Laidlaw retiring in 2005. Wilma enjoyed bingo, the casino, visiting with friends, bowling, and boating, camping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband James M of Ogdensburg; a son James A. & Mary Kay Lewis; a daughter Becky & Donald Legault both of Ogdensburg; three brothers Howard & Alice Kench, Donald “Mike” & Joyce Kench and William & Terri Kench all of Ogdensburg; five grandchildren Nicholas Lewis, Shawna & Justin Corey, Jennie Legault, Cheyenne Legault and Caleb Legault; two great- grandchildren Alexander and Stephen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
