
Surrounded by her children, Clara Etta Harness passed from this life on August 28, 2015. She was born November 8, 1928, in Breckenridge, Texas, to Lucille & William Austin Williams and grew up in Coalgate, Oklahoma.
Clara graduated from Draughon School of Business in Oklahoma City and was employed at Corken Inc., where she met—and later married—her husband of 45 years, Robert E. Harness, Jr. Together as a team they successfully owned and operated Blue Marine Pools & Abalara’s Gift Shop in the Village for nearly 40 years.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Vernon Williams; and sisters, Barbara Blakely and Freda Gaylor. She is survived by her three sisters: Velma Chiles of Coalgate, OK, Nina Rita Hays of Midwest City, OK, and Edith Barritt of Oklahoma City; son, Robert E. Harness, III, & wife Patti of Hurst, TX; daughters, Cynthia Ann McGowen & husband Art of Edmond and Kim Michelle Harness of Addison, TX; four loving grandchildren: Jessica Nicole Harness, Collin Harness, Clint McGowen, and Lexi McGowen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
Clara’s greatest legacy was being Mother to her three children and four grandchildren as they were equally blessed to have her in their lives; with dignity and strength, she always placed them first in her life.
A private celebration of Clara’s life will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015.
