Courtney “Tray”Duty was born in Los Angeles, California to parents Shyrea Latrice Givens and Marvin Courtney Duty Jr. He was the first of two children born to this union. Tray, as he was affectionately called, attended schools throughout Los Angeles County. He loved playing basketball and exceeded at this sport, garnering the attention of coaches and schools all around the country. Tray resided in Los Angeles until moving to Charlotte, North Carolina with his mother and sisters. He eventually moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attended Redlands College. It was there that he met his life partner Monique Davis. Two children were born to this union Aryah age 6 and Kamden age 2. He loved family and basketball. Tray always had a special connection and bond with his younger sister Kyla. They acted more like twins due to their closeness in age. He also adored his little sisters Brittney and Briana Barnes. Tray maintained a very close relationship with his auntie Jewel “TT “ whom he loved immensely. Tray also served as a loving big brother to his younger brothers, Marvin and Matthew Duty. He was a very loving person and loyal to those he loved. He lived life unapologetically his way. He enjoyed spending time traveling and meeting new friends along the way. Tray’s untimely passing has left our hearts broken. Tray leaves to cherish and honor his memory, his children, Aryah and Kamden, his mother, Shyrea Givens, maternal Grandmother, Carolyn Wilson, Sisters, Kyla Duty, Briana Barnes, and Brittney Barnes, brothers, Marvin Duty and Matthew Duty. Niece, Skylar “Juice” Fleming, Life partner, Monique Davis, and Aunt Jewel Duty-Forbes, cousin, Kyra Jewel Forbes and a special Bond with Kym Ruiz whom he looked at as a second mother. Tray shared a very special bond with several men that he considered to be life brothers, Michael Daniels also affectionately known as Mikey, Tony Williams, Marvin Adams and L A. Along with a host of family, friends and loved ones. A visitation for Courtney will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
