Obituary of Dora May Jones
Dora May (Montgomery) Jones died peacefully on July 27, 2022. She was born on January 11, 1929, to James Pulaski Montgomery and Delphia Berdie (Fraser) Montgomery. She was the youngest of six children. She attended all 12 years of school at Putnam City and was still active in the PC Alumni Association. She worked as a decorator consultant for Sears for 16 years and freelanced for a while. She particularly enjoyed working for her beloved Quail Springs Baptist Church as director of food service. She also worked as a caterer for some time and organized estate sales. She married her sweetheart, Charles Richard Jones on October 5, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2010. They had 62 years together and she missed him terribly. She was saved at PC Baptist Church at age seven. She loved her church and especially her Lord Jesus Christ. She and Charles started the Benevolence ministry of the church and were active in the Joy Sunday School class, the Sanctuary choir, Sears Retirees, a canasta group, and a domino group of 50 or 60 years. She is survived by her two sons, Charles Richard Jones II (Rick) of Edmond and James Earl Jones (Jay) and his husband, Michael, of Palm Springs, CA, two granddaughters whom she adored, Shelly Dill and her significant other, Mike Broomfield, and Jacki Trotter and her husband Justin, a step-grandson, Daniel Gordon, four great-granddaughters Nikki Duncan, Kristal Rohrbaugh, Sydney Trotter, and Skyler Trotter, and four great-great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh, Jaxyn, and Addelynn Duncan and Kamden Rohrbaugh. She also remained close to her grandchildren’s mother, Kathy Johnson, and her husband Richard. She loved her many nieces and nephews as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ophna and wife Dorothy, Ellis and wife Mary Ann and Firman and wife Lois and sisters, Oneta and husband Raymond Stiverson and Frances and husband Quentin Caviness, all of Charles’ ten brothers and sisters and their spouses, and her daughter-in-law, Beverly Jones. A visitation for Dora will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Jones family.
