Harriet Ruth (Richey) Manlove of Friendswood, TX, beloved mother, wife, and grandmother went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2025 at age 81. Her joy, great love for others, and cherished life was celebrated with a family service held at the Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
Harriet was born January 29, 1944 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She was raised by her mother, Betty West, with her two younger sisters in Norman, Oklahoma where she graduated High School. Growing up as the oldest, she often took care of her two younger sisters. This started her life long journey of motherhood. After high school, inspired by her love for children, she went on to graduate from Oklahoma University with a Masters Degree in Special Education.
Throughout her life, she loved painting, decorating, gardening, traveling, and especially children. She always found joy in the small things of life. In fact, “Joy” was her favorite word. She was incredibly dedicated to her family and friends, and was always there for everyone in times of need. She was a Wife, Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and Friend, but the “mom in her” was the strongest…..she was a mother to many over the years and always had just the right words to say. She was often known as the rock of her family and the Eveready Bunny. She just kept going and going! She will be deeply missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Richey West, and her sisters Nancy Richey Savage and Betty Linda Richey.
She is survived by her husband Robert Manlove, cousin Marilyn McDuff, sister-in law Linda Rains, daughter and son-in law Tracy and Tim Otterson, son and daughter-in-law Adam and Alana Manlove, nieces and nephews Brent Neel, Mark Nelms, Greg Nelms, Amy Rains Phillips, and Angie Rains McNeil, and grandchildren Kacey, Jake, Nolan, Mercedes, Lindsey, and Matthew.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s.
