Jack Dwayne Fisher went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2026. Jack was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on April 25th, 1951. He grew up in Cresent Oklahoma where he was a three sport star athlete playing quarterback, shooting guard, and catcher for the Tigers. Jack graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and went on to graduate from Oklahoma City University Law School. After clerking for Judge Homer Smith and practicing with Bay, Hamilton, Renegar, and Lees for a year, he started his own law practice with his wife Karen who was a paralegal. Jack was an amazing criminal attorney and became one of the first attorneys to be certified in Oklahoma to handle Federal Habeas Corpus cases. He was a central figure in using DNA to overturn the wrongly convicted and the exposure of corruption within the Oklahoma Crime Lab and District Attorney’s office.
Jack was strong enough to address and confront life’s challenges head on. In 1991 he made a call to the bar association and within minutes he was connected to an attorney that picked him up and took him to an AA meeting at the Western Club. Jack credits AA for having saved his life and he was dedicated to its principles, which he went on to share with many others over more than 33 years.
Outside of his law practice, Jack was an avid Sooners and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play any sport. He helped teach them golf, tennis, baseball, and football. He loved to play cards, dominoes, shoot pool, or anything else that might be competitive. Jack had a great, often self-deprecating sense of humor. He was loved and will be missed.
Jack is survived by his wife, Karen Fisher, his four children – Joe Fisher (Penny), Shawna Vente (Robert), Vance Fisher (Jeanine), and Wells Fisher (Tara), thirteen grandchildren – Harrison Fisher (Natalie), Lauryl O’Brien (Trace), Ashley Vente, Cade Vente, Sadie Vente, Emma Vente, Olivia Vente, Tristan Fisher (Sydney), Colton Fisher, Mia Fisher (Mikey), Tas Fisher, Jude Fisher, and Zeppelin Fisher, and 8 great-grandchildren.
