

J. D. Phillips JR passed away on Sunday, September 13th, ending a long battle with organic brain disease. His lifelong generosity and ebullient spirit enriched countless lives. He was born in OKC, attended Millwood Elementary and graduated from North East High School in 1965. He served his country in the Army in the Vietnam Era. After completion of his service he attended Central State University obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. After completing his studies he owned an auto repair business until retirement due to illness.
He is preceded in death by his father Jacob Dawson Phillips Sr. and his brother Mark Allan Phillips both of OKC. He is survived by his mother Jean Fowler Phillips of OKC, sister Judy Walker of OKC, brother Dan Phillips of OKC, sister Marilyn Young and her husband John of Muleshoe, Texas, sister Carolyn Rice of McAlister, OK, brother Stephen Phillips and his wife Charlene of Muleshoe, Texas, sister Cynthia Garrison, M.D. of Frisco, Texas, his beautiful daughter Stephani Hutto, her husband Troy, four children and one grandchild of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and numerous lifelong friends.
His beautiful sweet, sweet spirit is missed. One of God’s lights shining in the world of darkness was dimmed with his passing, but our hearts rejoice with the knowledge that he now rests, at peace with our Lord and Savior. We raise thanks to Father God for bestowing such a beautiful gift upon us during the time we had him with us.
J.D.’s family would like to express their gratefulness for the exceptional care and loving kindness he recieved at the OKC VA Hospital, both in the ICU and the palliative care unit.
