

Pastor Janet Elizabeth Buchanan, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Edmond. Janet was born on June 24, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents John Kenneth Stoneman and Elizabeth Stoneman.
She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Harding High School in Oklahoma City in 1962. Janet furthered her education after high school and attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Janet married Dr. James Michael Buchanan on June 20, 1964.
She attended Wesley Methodist Church in Oklahoma City for a large portion of her life where she was active in the choir and also taught Sunday school.
Janet loved the Lord Jesus first and foremost. She enjoyed playing piano, gardening, shopping, and collecting antiques. Her home was decorated with amazing antiques and collectible pieces that she accumulated over many years by traveling up and down the east coast. She loved all things red, white, and blue.
She became an ordained Pastor in 1986 and traveled the world extensively for the past 35 years spreading the Gospel throughout many nations including the Philippines, Kenya, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Australia, and Singapore.
Janet was a faithful servant of God, an impassioned prayer warrior, and a spiritual mother to countless Christians around the world. There were many blessed and saved by her humble ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Kenneth Stoneman and Elizabeth Stoneman.
Janet is survived by her four children Dr. Stephen Buchanan of Edmond, OK, Bryan Buchanan & his wife Christy Buchanan of Edmond, OK, Kathy Buchanan Rogers of Tulsa, OK, and Sarah Buchanan Clark & her husband Drew Clark of Collins, MO, her 13 grandchildren Haley Buchanan, Alex Buchanan, Rebecca Buchanan, Jacob Buchanan, Rachel Buchanan, Gabe Rogers, Mary Rogers, Paul Rogers, John Rogers, Grace Rogers, Malakai Clark, Karis Clark, and Caden Clark, and sister Sue Stoneman.

A memorial service for Janet will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N. Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
