Karol E. Crow was born Oct. 15, 1956, in Lawton, to Gene and Joyce Ellison. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1974. She met her husband, Phillip Crow, later that year over a ping-pong table in the Baptist Student Union of Lawton’s Cameron University. He eventually invited her to join him on a hike around Treasure Lake in the nearby Wichita Mountains, where at one point he leaned over and kissed her for the first time. Surprised, she asked, “Why did you kiss me?” and he said, “Because I’ve wanted to for a long time.” They were engaged in 1975 and were married on July 3, 1976. She transferred from Cameron to the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 1975 and graduated in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. They moved from Norman to Edmond in 1980. She helped operate her husband’s medical business, Oklahoma Perfusion Incorporated. A talented singer, songwriter and pianist, she was a member of the band Malachi and helped conduct worship services at Grace New Life Church and Metro Church, both in Edmond. She also volunteered at Metro Church’s pregnancy counseling and adoption center.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Kelly Crow, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her son, Wade Crow, of Oklahoma City; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Dale Thomson, of Arlington, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Patti Ellison of Fort Worth, Texas; her sister-in-law and husband Lanetta and Ricky Martin of Geronimo, Okla.; her sister-in-law, Teresa Crow of Benton, La.; several nieces and nephews, including Cari Thomson of Phoenixville, Pa; Tyler Thomson of Arlington; Kris Maloy and Jolie Beth Boudreaux of Edmond; Blake Ellison of San Diego, Calif.; Keith and Sasha Martin of Tulsa; Paul and Audra Martin of Lawton; Heather Mallow of Sarepta, La.; Jordan Crow of Benton, La; and many loving friends.
