September 23, 1936 – September 11, 2025
Larry Barrowman, 88, of Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, just days shy of his 89th birthday.
Born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on September 23, 1936, Larry was a proud graduate of Spaulding High School. Known for his sharp wit, generous heart, and unmatched poker face, he had a lifelong passion for playing cards and spending time with his beloved dog, Max, who was never far from his side.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. "Cotton" and Ruth Barrowman; his brother, Edward Barrowman; and his sisters, Mary Russell, Joann McGee, and Paula McCoy.
He is survived by his loving family: daughter Sherri Thurman and her husband Mike; sons Stanley Barrowman and wife Jayme, and Stuart Barrowman and wife Cindy. He is also survived by his siblings Jerry Barrowman and wife Carolyn, and Linda Barrowman.
Larry's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Chris Thomas, Jason Thomas and wife Iris, Gwenda Tillery and husband John, Stanley Barrowman Jr. and wife Tiffany, Jessica McWilliams and husband Derryn, Jason Arias, Michael Thurman II and wife Tiffny, Jennifer Vicinus and husband Matt, Kimberly Light and husband Andrew, and Christopher Sobey. He was a proud great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy to his heart.
Larry will be remembered for his humor, resilience, and deep love for his family. His presence was a steady comfort, and his stories will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you play a hand of cards in his honor—or give a dog a little extra love today, just as Larry would’ve done.
