Millie Mae Feaster was born July 28, 1911, to Thomas George and Mary (Norton) Maughon in Atmore, Alabama. She married Zollie Leroy Feaster in 1927 in Excel, AL. Two sons, Harvey Lee Feaster and Hodges Feaster, were born to that union. The family moved to Mississippi where the boys grew up, before moving to Midland, Texas, in the early 1950’s. She lived in Midland for about 25 years before moving to Laurel, MS, to care for her father until he died. She then moved to Bethany, OK, where she lived until her health forced her to move from her home to nursing care in 2008.
Millie was preceded in death by her father; mother; three brothers: J.R., William “Shine” Henry, and LeRoy Maughon; two sisters, Katie Bell Sanders and Mary Emma Stringer; son, Hodges Feaster; grandsons, Tony Feaster Ewing and Tim Feaster; and one granddaughter, Renee Feaster. She is survived by her son, Harvey Lee Feaster & wife Sherry; daughters-in-law, Carol Feaster and Audrey Feaster & husband Andy; three grandsons: Terry & wife Shaun, Steven & wife Trish, and Stanley & wife Susan; three granddaughters: Tammy Ewing Greene, Stacy Sprinkle & husband Jim, and Dawn Gonzales & husband Eddie; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
She was a very active member in the Church of God her entire life. She served her church in many ways through the years, but was most proud and passionate about her years as Chairman of Missions in her church in Mustang, OK. She received awards a number of years for having raised more money for missions than any other Church of God in her district. She spent many hours making breads, fried pies and candy, which she sold everywhere she went to raise money for the mission fund.
She made her living most of her life by being an alteration lady in several different clothing stores and dry cleaners and was also widely known for her ability to alter almost anything. She worked in the public sector until her 80th birthday, and then continued to do alterations in her home for several more years, until her eyesight started to fail. She lived in her own home until she was 96, at which time she moved to an assisted living apartment. She later moved to the Tuscany Village Nursing Home, where she lived until the time of her death.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral home from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2014, with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
