Monroe Clifton Whitehead, 100, was born November 3, 1913, in Pauls Valley, OK, to parents William Curtis & Eddie Lee (Ward) Whitehead and passed away April 10, 2014, in Edmond, OK. He was a decorated WWII Army Veteran, having received the Bronze Star. He was a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma and remained a devoted fan of OU sports. He was instrumental in starting Little League Baseball in Oklahoma and was a Bridge Life Master. He retired from OG&E after 43 years as an electrical engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 68 years, Genevieve; and daughter, Martha. He is survived by his son, Larry Whitehead; daughters, Ann Dee Zeilinger & husband Scott and Kelli Cooley; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Bill Whitehead; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel 13400 N Kelley Ave; OKC, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
