Mostafa Moini

Mostafa Moini was born May 4, 1939 in Arak, Iran and came to the U.S. in 1959 after graduating from Hadaf High School in Tehran. Mostafa received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Oklahoma in 1964, and his M.A. in Economics from the University of Oklahoma in 1966. He taught as an instructor and later as Assistant Professor of Economics at Oklahoma City University from 1966 to 1969, while writing his Doctoral Dissertation at the University of Oklahoma.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Economics, Moini taught at Wichita State University, from 1969 to 1974. He went back to Iran in 1975 to marry the love of his life, Anvar. While there he taught in the MBA program administered by Harvard School of Business. With the onset of the revolution the school was closed and Mostafa founded Gohaar Industries, which is presently the leading firm in the paper products industry in Iran. In 1987 he returned to the U.S. and joined the Oklahoma City University where he remained as faculty and a valuable member of the campus family until his untimely death on Friday, September 3, 2010.

He is survived by his wife Amber, and his son Cyrus.

A memorial service will be held for him on Friday, September 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the OCU Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel. A graveside funeral service will immediately follow at Edmond Memorial Park Cemetery located at 13313 North Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK.
