

Norvin was born at the home place in Okarche, OK on February 3, 1921 to Albert and Lydia (Gleichman) Schroder. He joined the U. S. Marines Corp shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and completed his military career as a gunnery sergeant at Camp Pendleton during the Korean conflict. Upon completion of his military service he joined Southwestern Bell where he worked for thirty-five years. On February 25, 1956 Norvin married Mary Joyce Simpson to whom he remained happily married for fifty-seven years. A life-long member of the Lutheran church, he was fun-loving and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Norvin was a wonderful husband, father, and man. He belonged to the U.S. Seagoing Marine Association, was a 32nd degree Mason, and a Shriner. He spent the first 20 years of his retirement driving needy children to Shrine Hospitals. Norvin was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife Ruby Brown Schroder; his brothers and their wives Emil and Edna, George, Milton and Pauline; brother and sister in-laws Jean and Bob Crites, Kenneth-, Jerry-, and Ed Simpson and Peggy Schroder. He is survived by his wife; son Fred; daughters and their husbands Linda and Scott Burns, Paula and Steve Green; and one precious granddaughter Laura Burns. Brother and sister in-laws Hilda Schroder, William and Alice Simpson, Mary Simpson, Mona Simpson, Albert Schroder, Travis and Margaret Simpson, and many nieces and nephews also survive him.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held for Norvin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Memorial Park Cemetery Historic Chapel, 13400 N. Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City.
