It’s hard to put into words, the “Larger than Life” kind of guy that Tom was. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. Tom and Mary Ann Howard were married February 17, 1963. They raised three children and always opened their home to all of their friends. Tom was the neighborhood parent that everyone wanted to play with! His passion was and has always been his children and grandchildren. Coaching all the teams that Chris, Tim and Marianne were on brought him great joy! Tom retired from the US Postal Service in 2011 to be home with his beloved wife, Ann who had taken ill. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2015. He devoted all his energy to helping her. His parents and Angela Gray, one of his daughter-in-laws, also preceded him.
Continuing to be a part of his kids and grandkids lives, Tom could often be seen at football games, soccer games and Crossfit 134. Tom’s real and abiding passions were his family and friends. Tom was an avid lover of movies, theater and sports. He could tell you movie titles, actors/actresses that were in them and a few details that you might not even think about. He loved the theater. His top rated ones would be Les Misérables, Cats, Oklahoma! and Phantom of The Opera. He loved all sports, especially Chicago Bears football, but loved watching Thunder Basketball, OSU and OU sports as well.
Tom is survived by his children, Chris Gray and wife Valarie, Tim Gray and Marianne Ballard and husband Russell. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Ho-Dit! This isn’t done until some words are shared that he would want you to know. Always plan and be prepared for whatever comes along in your life. Love your family! Talk to people because you never know who you might meet and learn something from. But most of all “Have Fun! See you when you’re older!”
