Vicky Lynn Mauldin, 65, a lifelong Oklahoma resident, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 19, 2023. She was born in Oklahoma City on November 10, 1958. Vicky graduated from Southeast High School in 1977 where she ran track and was a member of the pep club. While playing in a recreational softball league, she met the love of her life in 1987, and she married her “honey”, John, on September 1, 1988.
Before her retirement in June, over the past 41 years, Vicky worked in various industries and professions. She worked for companies including AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Computer System Designers, and S&K Engineering. Most recently, she coordinated everything from travel for the crew to on-site equipment rentals for FAA shelter installations on airfields across the country; as well as, managed the warehouse and ensured supplies and materials were ordered and stocked as necessary.
She cherished her family and friends; she thoroughly enjoyed getting people together to enjoy each other’s company, especially if it included Mexican food. She loved the warm weather, the beach, and weekends of boating at Lake Eufaula with the girls. She loved to shop! Whether it was locally or while out of town on vacation, she delighted in walking down main streets and shopping at various markets, stores, and boutiques; she always seemed to find at least one thing that she or someone she loved needed. She tolerated the cooler weather so long as she had a pair of comfy sweats and a big, warm pair of fluffy socks. OU Football, the Dallas Cowboys, and the OKC Thunder got her on her feet, and she could always tell you what time the game was and most likely the channel to view it.
She had a knack for immediately making anyone feel like a part of her family and creating a sense of community wherever she was, doing whatever she did, with whomever she was with. She was always one of the first ones to announce the celebration of a holiday, and she never missed the opportunity to wish a happy birthday whether it was via card, text, or a Facebook post. At work, she was considered a motherly figure, loving and caring for her co-workers. At home, she was everything. She was the social glue, an endless giver, the one that would check in on you - the absolute best kind of loved one to have. And if you ask anyone who knew her, her grandbabies were her world and being “Nana” was one of her most prized titles.
She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Pliley. She is survived by her mother, Anna Kerr and husband Don of Oklahoma City; her husband of 35 years, John; her children, Kyle Kasenurm and wife Leah of Edmond and Zac Mauldin and partner Meghan O'Brien of Oklahoma City. She is also lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Kai, Kori, and Koen Kasenurm; her two sisters, Teresa Pliley of Eufaula and Brenda Henderson and husband Roy of Blanchard; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends and co-workers, all of whom she loved and supported endlessly.
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
