

William attended school at Post Oak grade school and Caney High School. He also attended Murray Junior College in Tishomingo, OSU and Oklahoma City University.
He joined the Navy in 1944, serving in World War II in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Bremerton Washington. He was honorably discharged in 1946. After the military, he went to college and received his associate’s degree in agriculture at Murray Junior College. He played in a band while attending OSU. At Oklahoma City University, he took accounting courses. William worked for General Electric for seven years and Osborne Electric for 32 years until retirement.
He married Alice Murl Armstrong on Aug. 4, 1950.
William enjoyed listening to and playing Country and Bluegrass music. He played the fiddle with various groups in his earlier years, including the Caney Cowboys.
William joined the Masons in 1983 and became a 33rd degree Mason. He was awarded Mason of the Year in 1999 from Lodge 36.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Jean C rites and Peggy Schroeder; brothers Kenneth, Jerry and Doyle; and his daughter, Judith Ann (Simpson) Nelson.
William is survived by his wife, Alice Simpson; sons Terry Lynn (Debbie) and Aldon Duane Simpson; brother, Travis Glen (Margaret) Simpson; sister, Joyce Schroeder; brother-in-law, Albert Schroeder; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pall Bearers will be Bradley Simpson, Bruce Simpson, Eric Simpson, Randy Simpson, Scott Burns and Phillip Workman. Honorary Pall Bearers are Eddie Workman, Fred Schroeder and Cody Wayne Simpson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13400 N. Kelly in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
