Memory Yolanda Placencio Grinie was born on May 30, 1949, in Santa Clara “Central”, New Mexico. She passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at St Anthony’s in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Yolanda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother of one. She was often fondly referred to as “Little Gemma”, “Mema”, and “Nana”. As a beloved Aunt of countless nieces and nephews, she was the last of the fifteen siblings.
She enjoyed reading her bible, listening to music, tending to her plants, and chatting with friends and family. She was feisty and witty, with a good sense of humor. Yolanda was known for having nicknames and special voices for everyone.
Yolanda is survived by her loving husband Joshua Grinie; Daughters, Mamie Shabani and husband Ali, Edie Jo Placencio, Mary Duncan and husband Tim, and Lynnette Romero; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She is loved by many nieces and nephews along with their children. Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents Albert O. and Adela G. Placencio, son Anthony Albert Romero, daughter Melody Elizabeth Rupe, and granddaughter Ashlyn Duncan. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Visitation for friends and family will be held 12:00pm-4:00pm, Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, June 23, 2025, at Memorial Park Historic Chapel with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
