Edgar Alton Wilson, Jr., 91, entered into the fulness of everlasting life with God on July 22, 2020. Al had an authentic relationship with his Lord that spilled over into every facet of his life. He was dedicated to introducing his family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances to the life transforming truth of God's Word. Al was born in Tampa, Florida on October 27, 1928 to the late Edgar Alton Wilson, Sr. and Dorothy Staley Wilson. He grew up in Sanford and West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1944 Al joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was led to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ by a shipmate. Al's command of Scripture was well known. Early on he applied himself to master the Navigator's Topical Memory System which led to a life long passion for Bible study and application. While stationed in Washington, D.C. he met Lellan West at Grace Baptist Church. Al was attracted to Lellan not only for her grace and charm but also her deep commitment to Jesus Christ. They fell in love and on September 8, 1950 were married in the same church at which they first met. After his discharge from the Navy in 1953, Al and Lellan moved to Central Florida. He landed a job as a salesman for Nabisco, a job he held until retirement thirty plus years later. His love of people and strong work ethic helped him excel as a sale representative. Throughout his career he was known as a man of integrity and an outspoken Christian. Al was a stalwart church member. He and Lellan were members of First Baptist Church Orlando since the early 1970s. He served there as a Deacon for many years. He was also involved in a number of Bible studies and prayer groups throughout his life including The Gathering of Men and Man in the Mirror. Surviving him are Lellan Wilson, his wife of seventy years, and his two sons, Tim Wilson and his wife, Nan and Mark Wilson. In addition, there remain six grandchildren and four great grandchildren to carry on the journey of faith that started in 1948.
