Harold was born November 27, 1929 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania to John and Mary Hemmings. He joined the United States Air Force after high school and continued in that career for over 23 years, earning a Bronze Star and numerous accolades.
In recent years, he battled with serious medical issues and showed his courage in facing life challenges. Despite the pain, Harold stayed strong until the end. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and loved spending time with family. He was known to many as “Boots”, a name he earned because he would drop his boots in the outhouse at school.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Delores, of 68 years, children Harold (Jeni); Debra Alley (Rod); David; Sandy Hollingshead; grandchildren Summer Tidmore (Josh); Everett Alley; Julie Manbeck (Brent); Ashley Ali (Baqer) Amber Hollingshead; brother Lee; sisters Peg Pohts; Alice Ingram; Ruth MacDougall (Butch); Carol Lee; Donna Pokey (John); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Hemmings, mother Mary Hemmings, brothers John, Jr; Dave; Herb; Don; Hambone; Skip; Paul; Robbie and sister Shirley.
