Howard Sherwood (82) passed away December 8, 2020 in Orlando, Florida. Howard was born in Plymouth, Pennsylvania August 29, 1938 to Joseph Barclay Sherwood and Anna Elnora Sherwood. He graduated from Corey Area High School, Pennsylvania. He met and fell in love with Joan Ann Clark from Rochester, New York while attending Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, New York. After a year at BBS he went to the University of Arizona in Tucson from which he obtained a BS in Mathematics 1961, an MS in Mathematics 1963, and a PhD in Mathematics 1966. His 35-year career as a mathematics professor and researcher at the Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Central Florida culminated in being bestowed the honor of Professor Emeritus by UCF in 2000. However, the priorities of his life were his relationship with Jesus Christ, commitment to family, service to the body of Christ, and testimony to others.
He is survived by daughter Evelyn & Tim Baldon of Orlando, FL - grandson Jonathan Baldon of Tampa, FL; daughter Gwen & Phil Binder of Fort Smith, AR - grandchildren Debbie & Brad Nagorski of Comstock, NE, Nathan Binder of Fort Smith, AR, and Andrew & Laura Binder of Albuquerque, NM; son Joe & Michele Sherwood of Morrill, NE - grandson Joe & Amber Sherwood of North Platte, NE (great grandchildren Joseph, Hannah, Mary, and Leah), granddaughter Jessica & Travis Rupp of Houston, TX (great grandchildren Solomon, Judah, and Roman), and grandson Seth Sherwood of Morrill, NE; and daughter Marilyn & Bryan Feather of Franklin, MA – granddaughter Katie & Matt Shewmaker of Fort Smith, AR (great grandchildren Liam and Nora), grandson Steven & Allison Feather of Fort Worth, TX (great grandson Daniel), and granddaughter Kelly Feather of West Palm Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife (Joan), and his siblings: Joe, Bob, Art, Frank, Mary, Louie, Pinky, Dot, and Randy.
The family will be holding a private memorial service.
Over the course of his life, Howard Sherwood supported many evangelistic ministries. In response to his death, his desire would have been for any memorial gifts to support one of those ministries.
