

He was born on January 29, 1938 to the late James Hoyt and Nellie Mae Coker King.
A native of Greenville County, South Carolina, James graduated from Lander College in 1959. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Army.
While stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, James met his wife, Brigitte B. Braehne in 1960, whom he married on September 19, 1962 in Greenville, SC. In 1964, their son, Anthony, was born.
In 1966, James moved his family to Connecticut, where he began working in the accounting department at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. After having lived in Wethersfield and Manchester, they finally settled in South Windsor.
He received his MBA from American International College in Springfield, MA. He was promoted to supervisor of sales accounting at Pratt from where he retired in 1995. In 1996, he and Brigitte moved to Orlando, FL.
Always looking to make life better for others, James and Brigitte adopted four children (Tanja, Sabina, Stefan and Chris), providing them a new chance at life. A dedicated father, he was always very proud of his children's many accomplishments and successes.
Guided by his faith, he became a founding member of the Spirit of Joy Church in Orlando, and welcomed many with his engaging smile, positive attitude and love of conversation. Throughout his life, Jim loved to garden, to cook for family and friends, to swim in his pool, and to simply enjoy life. Especially in the waning months, he particularly enjoyed playing board games and sitting by the lake.
James is predeceased by his wife Brigitte B. King, his daughter Tanja B. King, his brother, Kenneth, his sister Etta Jean, and his brother, Leon. James is survived by his children Anthony J. King of Stuttgart Germany, Sabina K. King (Daniel) of Moraga CA, Christoper T. King (Mary) of Foothill Ranch CA and Stefan S. King (Cordula) of Bueckeburg Germany and his three grandchildren, Faith, Sophia and Hunter.
A visitation will be held at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, located at 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817, on January 27, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:30 am.
The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
A graveside service will take place at SE Cemeteries of Florida DBA Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 Harrell Rd, Orlando, FL 32817, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on the same day.
