Born in France, Josie met Edward Niedzwiecki, an American GI, while he was stationed at Chateauroux Air Force Base.
They married in October 1964 and soon began a new life together in the United States, eventually settling in Winter Park, Florida, where they lived a quiet, meaningful life centered on family and home.
Josie’s greatest joy was her family.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Laura, and later a proud and caring grandmother to her granddaughter, Caitlin, who she deeply cherished.
Josie found purpose and happiness in the rhythms of home life. She was a wonderful cook, something her husband especially enjoyed. She loved gardening and took pride in creating a welcoming and beautiful backyard. Animals held a special place in her heart, especially cats, and many found comfort and safety through her gentle care. Josie remained closely connected to her French roots and enjoyed her time with a small group of French ladies, with whom she shared language, friendship, and a sense of familiar customs and heritage.
She was known for having the kindest heart. She was always there to offer help to a neighbor or an animal in distress. She even taught herself Italian so she could better care for elderly neighbors who did not speak English.
Though she lived quietly, the impact of her kind and loving soul was felt by those around her. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her warmth, and the many small, beautiful acts of kindness that defined her days.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
