Staelens, Linda Maxine, 98, passed away September 26, 2022 in Orlando, FL. Born February 26, 1924 in Perry, FL to Cecil and Lelia(Williams) Lyons. She had many occupations besides homemaker including, working tobacco to buy school clothes, working in transportation at various military bases, Avon lady, Belks and Nex where she retired twice and became a long time NEREA Member.. Raised Baptist, she converted at 21 to marry in the Catholic Church. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, active and attending weekly mass until the last few years. She was also active with the Knights of Columbus #2112, especially New Years Eve bingo. She was very involved with all her children's activities, alway volunteering where needed. Managing the concession stand at Conway Little League, BMHS Band Bingo(again many New Years), chaperone, chauffer. The list is endless. She was an avid reader, her voice was so beautiful that the smaller churches we attended wanted to recruit her for their choir, was quite the bowler in her earlier years, enjoyed her flowers and plants, her last favorites were Orchids and Succulents. She loved to travel, especially when it meant time spent with family or friends, that became family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hubert "Hugh" Staelens in 2009.
She is survived by her son, Bruce(Bethany) Staelens of Shoreline, WA., daughter, Paula Staelens of Orlando, FL and 3 of her seven siblings, brother, Cecil "Ray"(Jewel) Lyons of Jacksonville, FL, sister Betty Frith of Perry, FL sister, Tommie Beal of Newberry, FL and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
At 83 She became a Grandma to Heather Criner and a Great Grandma to Jade followed by Lilah, Khloe and Mila. Her love of babies was constant to the end. She was loved by all and will be truly missed.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday November 6, 2022 frp, 5-8PM at Baldwin Fairchild Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, jFL 32817(407-671-3919). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday November 7, at 11Am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, East Anderson Road, Orlando, FL 32812, followed by interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, 6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
