With profound grief and sorrow, the family of Lourdes Maria Hawkins announces her passing at the age of 61. On August 17th 2020, in accordance with her wishes, she took her final breath at her home in Winter Park, FL surrounded by her family and friends.
The second of two sisters, Lourdes Maria Ball-llovera was born to Humerto Ball-llovera (deceased) and Julia Badham on January 2nd, 1959 in Havana Cuba.
She was separated from her parents shortly after birth as they fled to the U.S. amidst the Cuban revolution. Lourdes was cared for by her maternal grandparents until the age of 3 when she was reunited with her family in New York City and later settled in the greater Los Angeles area.
Often called “Luly” by loved ones, she graduated from University High School in Irvine, CA and subsequently attended Brigham Young University where she met her husband Jack Raymond Hawkins. The couple was married on December 19th, 1981 in Salt Lake City Utah. They have 3 children.
Luly was known for her love of dancing, so much so that she often could not be convinced to leave the dance floor until the music had stopped. Even then she was the last person to leave the dance floor.
Her passion for dancing was second only to her love and devotion to her family. She adored her 3 children and lavishly doted on her grandchildren who lovingly called her ‘Mima’. She never missed an opportunity to spoil them, often with her exquisite cuisine and decadent desserts.
Luly leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, joy, and laughter.
Luly is survived by her:
Spouse – Jack Raymond Hawkins
Children – Daniel J Hawkins, Michael Raymond Hawkins, and Christina Marie Hawkins
Grandchildren – Kaitlyn Marie House, Charley Alexander House, Noah Ethan Hawkins, Elijah Daniel Hawkins, and Baby Sprinkle (coming in Jan 2021)
Lourdes was predeceased by her father, Humberto Ball-llovera in 2008 and elder sister, Ofelia Sellati in 2008.
Luly will be lying in rest at Baldwin-Fairchild at Chapel Hill & Chapel Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be on Saturday August 22nd, 2020 from 5pm to 9pm. The ceremony celebrating her life will be on Sunday August 23rd, 2020 at 3pm.
