Margo was born on August 15th, 1932 to Alphonse and Juliette Bedard in Quebec Canada. She was the oldest daughter of 18 children, she left school after the 8th grade to help her mother care for the family, however, her love of learning continued throughout her life. Her sacrifice for her family marked the beginning of a lifelong devotion to serving others.
To help support her family, Margo began working in a park tying fishing flies. She worked at the Chateau Frontenac before moving to Boston, Massachusetts to work as a nanny which is where she met her beloved husband of 38 years, Robert Cashin. They married October 25th, 1959 and began a military life moving every few years. Their first assignment was in California, then followed with Florida, Japan, Tennessee, back to Florida, then Alaska. In 1976, Robert retired from the military and they returned to Florida and settled down in Orlando. In Alaska her skills as an expert fly tyer were in great demand and she had her first small business which continued after she moved back to Orlando. Eventually her dreams to work as a professional materialized when she was hired at Brown and Brown Insurance Agency and then was given an opportunity to work at Barnett Bank, work she truly enjoyed.
Margo was a devoted Wife and Mother making sure the family’s needs were met before her own; her home was her pride and joy and everyone was welcome. She loved entertaining and her home was always full during the holidays. On weekends, they would open their home to their friends and she always had an open-door policy for friends and family from out of state to come for extended visits. Her warmth extended outside of the family where she was very active in her church community. At Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, she sang in the church choir, volunteered at the annual rummage sale and was active in the Women’s Club as well as the Sunshine Club. She made many new friends and embraced them as part of her family. With her indomitable spirit and strength, she was always serving or helping someone. Coming from humble beginnings, she felt blessed and in turn was willing to help family, friends, and anyone who might be in need. She lived by doing what she believed was right, with kindness, always helping others in her family, neighborhood, church, and community.
Margo lived a life defined by kindness, faith and service to others. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her compassion, generosity and unwavering love.
