March 29, 1935 – September 25, 2025
Our Dad, Nikolaus “Nick” Schuster, 90, of Zellwood, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by his children and his first grandchild.
Born in Molidorf, Yugoslavia, his life was defined by ingenuity, resilience, humor, and love. From humble beginnings as an immigrant arriving in America with only two “shrunks” of belongings, he built a beautiful life centered around family and hard work.
In 1958, he married the love of his life, our mom, Rose Barbara Weigang, and together they shared 64 wonderful years, raising us in Harper Woods, Michigan.
Dad worked as a master tool and die maker for General Motors and was known for his brilliance, craftsmanship, and endless curiosity. He spoke five languages, played semi-professional soccer, bowled a 299, and was an avid golfer and chess player.
At 70, Dad suffered a massive stroke that left him paralyzed on the right side, but his spirit never wavered. He chose happiness every day, continuing to work, invent, play chess, and live in “his mansion” for two decades. His resilience, humor, and courage inspired everyone who knew him.
He took immense pride in his family — his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — and never missed a chance to brag about us. Known lovingly by many names — Dad, Honey Daddy, Grandpa, GGN, Opa, Papa, Nickman, Klausy, and Schuster — he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, laughter, music, love, and joy for life.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Rose and is survived by his children Julie (Tim) Rugg, John (Penny) Schuster, Jean (Mike) Laboe; his grandchildren Emily (Colin) Zimmerman, John (Maddy) Rugg, Alexis (Hunter) Bowman, Nicholas Laboe, Elizabeth Laboe, Daniel (Stephanie) Laboe; and his great-grandchildren Brody and Wyatt Zimmerman and Ryker Rugg.
He is with us — always and always.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Little Wedding Chapel of Love located at 901 E Magnolia Ave, Eustis, FL 32726, on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Heart Association.
