Carol Ann Kirchhoff loved life and every day that the Lord provided. The world was hers to explore and she explored her earthly home on 16 cruises. Her new journey began on January 16, 2015, after her long 4 year battle with pancreatic cancer, when she traveled to her heavenly home. She is most certainly experiencing much joy and adventure.
Carol was born to Leonard and Elizabeth Mueller in Blackburn, MO on December 19, 1942. She graduated from Blackburn High School in 1960, where she excelled in basketball and softball. She would eventually go on to be on the semi-pro basketball team, Peck’s Good Girls. She moved to Kansas City and married Everette Kirchhoff, husband of 49 years. She made Overland Park her home for 49 years, attended JCC Flight School for her pilot’s license, and worked in the Yellow Freight claims department, eventually retiring from Yellow Freight after 35 years of service.
Her faith was visible to all who knew her. She was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church for over 25 years where she served as church treasurer, elder and choir member. Her most recent church home was Atonement Lutheran Church where she served as a braille worker and volunteered at Blessings Abound Thrift Store.
Carol’s husband, Everette Kirchhoff and her parents preceded her in death. She leaves her two brothers, Bob and wife, Joy Mueller and Larry and wife, Kay Mueller, 17 nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and special neighbors who took such loving care of her and made it possible for her to remain at home for as long as possible as she wished. Carol also leaves behind many other friends and acquaintances.
Carol never missed the opportunity to give birthday cards to every relative or friend whose life path she came across, and she was sweet to her core. She will be greatly missed, and though heaven has gained a wonderful soul, this earth will miss her wonderful presence.
