A visitation for Elaine will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. A Funeral service will be on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 11720 Nieman Road, Overland Park, Kansas 66210. A graveside service will be on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Overland Park, Kansas.
Elaine Ann Jennum, daughter of Melvin and Rosalena (Miller) Pospisil was born on August 22, 1954 in Newman Grove, NE. Elaine grew up in Newman Grove, NE where she graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1971.
On November 24, 1978, Elaine married Michael Jennum at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, NE. From this union, Elaine was blessed with a son and a daughter. They lived in Omaha, NE until 1991, when they moved to Lenexa, KS. Elaine primarily worked in the mortgage industry throughout her career, retiring in 2021 from Community America Credit Union after 21 years with the company.
Elaine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Overland Park, KS for 34 years. She enjoyed serving in many care groups at Christ Lutheran including Stephen Ministry and leading grief support groups. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, supporting her grandkids at their various events, and watching the Huskers, Royals and Chiefs. She especially loved spending time with her loved ones and friends.
Elaine is survived by son Chris Jennum (Erin) of Lees Summit, MO; daughter, Andrea Shumway of Lees Summit, MO; stepson Randy Epler (Cheri) of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren: Will Jennum, Ryleigh Jennum, Juliet Jennum, Caleb Shumway, Molly Shumway, Jake Shumway, Skyler Shumway, Garrett Epler, Gabrielle Epler, Brent Epler and Seth Edick; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Michael Jennum (2003); her parents, Melvin (1987) and Rosalena (2025) Pospisil; stepson, Rick Epler (2002); and sister, Diane Christian (2019).
