Flossie was preceded in death by parents, sister, brothers, husbands, a grandson, and a great grandson.
Born the fourth child of Martha Scharff and John Sandstrom on June 17, 1916, “Flossie” grew up in Herington, Kansas. She played second violin in the high school orchestra and worked for the telephone company after graduation. On a visit to Salina, Kansas, she found a typing job and met Joe Easterday. They were married in 1938 and other than a short time in Abilene, Kansas, they settled in Salina to raise their family of six children. Both were active in parish work at Sacred Heart Cathedral, played bridge and golf. She was a member of Ladies Elks and Ladies of Columbus serving as president of both organizations and worked at Evans Grain Company and Easterday-Boster Lumber Company. She remained active after Joe’s death in 1982 with golf, bridge, traveling, hospital volunteer work, craft and knitting groups. In 1992, she married a former Herington classmate Fay Orr and they moved to the Kansas City area where they enjoyed 16 years of dancing, card playing and traveling until his death in 2008. His family of four children, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren were blessings in her life.
With a sound mind mind and wit, she remained faithful to her motto "Count Your Blessings" and we ask that each one take a moment to do so.
