Janet Louise (Carlson) Koch, age 59, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away March 15th, 2012. Janet was born March 16th, 1952 to Paul and Clariece Carlson. Janet was raised on a farm in Cleveland, Missouri and was fiercely proud of her roots. She grew up with three siblings, constantly competing with them in sports, until the “Carlson sisters” joined forces in high school.
Janet was married to John Koch on July 25, 1981, which began their 30 year adventure together. She is also survived by her mother, Clariece Carlson, her siblings Rex Carlson, Sherran Wooden and Marilyn Carlson. She leaves behind her children Shannon Lueker, Kacie Joyner (Carson), Molly Spencer (Ross), and Andy Koch, along with her “adopted” daughters, Ebony Haliburton and Sandrine Salas (Alain). She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Tanner, Cole, Zoe, Maya; and many beloved extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Carlson, and her grandmother, Grace Sims.
Janet was a wonderfully devoted wife, mom and grandma. She worked hard to accomplish a lot in her professional life, converting from farm-girl to accountant, founding her own CPA firm. But at the end of the day, her ever-expanding family is what she lived for. Up for any competition, she brought life and energy to every gathering. She was loyal, loving and full of spunk and will be remembered for starting many family traditions. Janet had a special place in her heart for their summer retreat in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, which was the gathering place for the 40-plus members of the Koch Family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 20th, 2012 at Wesley Covenant Chapel, Church of the Resurrection (13720 Roe Avenue; Leawood, KS 66224). In lieu of flowers, please send donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City.
