Joan T. Harvey

Joan T. Harvey, 70, Overland Park, KS, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010. A memorial service will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 23 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park. Friends may call from 6-7 PM preceding the service at the Chapel.

Joan was born March 7, 1940 in Chicago, IL. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked at Sprint as an executive secretary and had just begun enjoying her retirement. Our mother loved the theatre and music. She spent many evenings at Starlight and The New Theatre. She was also a former member of Sweet Adelines. She was loved deeply by her family and friends. We will never forget how strong and brave she was in the last few weeks of her life. She will be missed by so many who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrea and Irene Tarsia; and former husband, Donald F. Harvey. Joan is survived by her daughters: MaryBeth Harvey of Lenexa, KS, Kelli (Torey) Wallace of Overland Park, KS, and Tricia (Shane) Somers of Olathe, KS; her sons: Michael (Stacia) Harvey and Greg (Melinda) Harvey, both of Overland Park, KS; 9 grandchildren: Joe, Sydney and Shelby Harvey, Tyler and Jack Harvey, Jackson and Samantha Wallace, Jordan and Gavin Somers; her brother: Andy Tarsia, and two nieces, Kristin and Lyndsay, all of New Hampshire; as well as her extended family, Patricia Harvey, Bob (Angela) Harvey, Cassidy, Kaithyn and Mason Harvey, Steve (Kimberly) Harvey, Ava, Logan and Bella Harvey; and her beloved cat, Miss Kitty.
