

Leonard E. Katzer, 79, of Overland Park, KS, passed peacefully from this life Monday morning, February 15, 2010, after a long battle with leukemia. He grew up on farms near Greeley, KS, moving to Kansas City after his marriage to Patricia (Hilden) in 1952. He worked as a shipping clerk for Pacific Mutual Door Co. in Kansas City for 39 years and provided lawn care for scores of homes on evenings and week-ends for nearly 40 years.
Leonard and Pat had four sons, Steve, and wife, Teresa (Lee’s Summit, MO), Dwayne, and wife Sandy (Belton, MO), Tim, and wife, Patty (Gardner, KS), Kevin, and wife, Susan (Overland Park, KS), and one daughter, Lisa Tavernaro (Mission, KS). The couple also had eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his brothers: Alfred, Urban, Dennis and Carl. He is also survived by brothers, Joe and Donny, and sisters, Mary Rose Adams and Charlene Meiners. Leonard was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 47 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Saturday, February 20 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 71st and Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Friday, February 19 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society, or to Kansas City Hospice House.
