Regina “Jeannie” Ann passed away on August 29, 2021, her 68th birthday. Jeannie was born on August 29, 1953 to David and Patricia Carey. She graduated from Argentine High School in 1971. She married Bill Hoover and they had two sons. Although she and Bill divorced, they remained friends. Before retiring, Jeannie worked as a tax examiner for the IRS.
Never short of a story or two to tell, she had hoped to write a book one day. Jeannie would often write children’s stories and then read to them to her sons when they were young. She encouraged them to have an appreciation of art at a young age.
Jeannie enjoyed learning about many things from exotic animals to cooking. She also liked to travel and visit local casinos. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that few could forget.
Survivors include her sons, Michael and David Hoover; father, David Carey: sisters and their husbands, Gayle and Ed Grape, Mary and Don Vittorino, Virginia, “Ginger” and Floyd Umscheid; brother, Aloysius “Tim” and wife Renee Carey, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia and a nephew, Matthew Grape.
Jeannie left this life with the gift of her family near. She would have loved the poetry and completeness of starting and ending her life on the same date. The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice House for the compassionate care given to Jeannie in her final hours.
