I was able to work with Bob at MRI for almost 8 years.  He was a great guy and I always enjoyed working with him.  He was a calming presence in every situation and MRI was lucky to have him and I am glad that I was able to work with him and call him a friend.  I know he will be missed greatly by many.

Bob, or "Barney," as the kids called him was a terrific soccer coach.  He  was an example of what coaching is supposed to be about.  Bob didn't care so much about the winning or losing, he focused only on the development of the kids both on an off the field.  His prepartion, dedication, and hard work were almost unparalled.  I learned much of what I know from him.  He was highly educated and ALWAYS wanted to learn more and just as importantly share what he learned.
I have known Bob for 20 or so years and in that time I never met one single person who had something bad to say about him, instead it was always about how kind and loving he was to the kids that had the privilage to work with him.  They learned the game yes, but more importantly they learned life lessons that will never ever leave them.
I would be remiss if I didn't say I lost a true friend.  I will miss our lunch and learn sessions greatly.  I will miss our interactions on an off the field.  I will miss my true friend.  RIP buddy, your pain and suffering is gone and you are in a better place.

Coach was an outstanding gentleman who always gave his best effort to the kids he coached.  He was a team player and would help any coach when needed.  He left big shoes for me to fill when he resigned as the SMN varsity boys coach.  He lead the program with his heart and shared his knowledge.  I know the boys appreciated his dedication to them, the school and community.  As a Fusion coach, he was second to none and touched many lives.  
Thank you for all you did Coach!  


Bob and I worked together many times at MRIGlobal, covering a wide range of projects from air quality, EPA method development, bioaerosol chamber tests, and defense.  He was always cheerful and positive, and helped the day go better for all of us.  His door was always open.  His wit was hard to beat.  We will all miss you greatly, and are glad for the time we had together.

He was a friend and mentor to so many at MRIGlobal.  I will miss his quiet sense of humor, his generosity, his wisdom, but most of all his kindness.  Thank you, Bob, for being an inspiration to us all.  It was an honor, my friend!   

It is with a heavy heart that I heard of Bob’s passing. We’ve worked together at MRIGlobal for many years in various capacities—team members on many projects, he as the always positive team leader, then later as my division director. His door was always open, be it for a technical discussion, seeking his advice on marketing or any other work matter, or simply to chat about our families. And oh, there was always a dish of chocolates for the takin’ in his office!  Too soon, Bob!

I had the pleasure of working with Bob for several years.  I always appreciated his visits,  and we would chat about work but also common interests... both UofU alums,  overlapped but different departments.  I was sad to hear of the diagnosis, and moreso that it claimed him far too early.  

Dear Scofield family , I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband, father, brother-in-law   Son- in law, grandpa and friend! I wish I knew the magic words to say that could make you all feel better, but at a time like this there are none. You are all in my prayers and thoughts! I love you all like family!!!💕💕🙏🙏

I first met Bob and the Barton family back in 1996 when both Taylor and daughter went to Bluejacket-Flint, as first graders.....Bob was  my daughters 1st soccer coach....a very gentle soul.  When 4th grade came along  he went premier and  Bob set me up for the recreational group...it was a commitment as I gained several "bonus daughters"  Thanks  Bob for all you have done...gone too soon


I had the honor of working with Bob closely at MRIGlobal over the past several years. He was one of the smartest and kindest people I've known, and always had a great book to recommend. We miss you, Bob. 

I was a colleague of Bob's at MRIGlobal, and he was my division director at various times during my tenure there. Although his area of research was not related to mine, he always gave such thoughtful guidance on our work and helped ensure our deliverables would meet and exceed our clients' expectations. But I really got to know Bob as a soccer player during our annual corporate challenge competitions. He was both a good player and a good sport. It was really fun to share the field with him as a teammate or an opponent during our practices. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

I knew Bob from work.  He helped make the world a better and safer place.  His management style was gentle, direct and effective.  He was a good boss whose management made our firm a better place.  He was also a good scientist whose contributions will endure.  He will be missed by many.

We are very sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  He coached our daughter Jaden and made competitive soccer so fun for her and her teammates!  He was a wonderful person and coach and will be missed.

It was such a privilege to have been coached by Bob. I moved to Kansas my freshman year of high school, and I was so happy to meet a few girls at my high school that played for Shawnee Elite. I was welcomed with open arms by Bob and all the girls on the team. Those 4 years with the team were amazing. We had so many team building activities outside of the game that I will always remember. Bob will always be remembered for having such a kind and tenderhearted spirit. He will be deeply missed. 

Angie, Taylor, Morgan and family I'm so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing and at the same time glad he is no longer suffering. I appreciate the time and effort he put into coaching Danielle and all the soccer girls. Wishing you comfort and peace as you grieve. Lori and Jacob

Bob always was professional and at the same time gregarious with a co-worker.  I enjoyed our common interest in Corporate Challenge participation.

It is sad to loose a friend too soon in his life.
